Tom Stafford

Bio

Tom Stafford is Professor of Cognitive Science at the University of Sheffield, UK. He studies learning and decision-making. Much of his research looks at risk and bias, and their management, in decision making. He is also interested in skill learning, using measures of behaviour informed by work done in computational theory, robotics and neuroscience. And, more recently, he has been studying complex decisions, and the psychology of reason, argument and persuasion. He is the author of two popular science books, Mindhacks and For Argument’s Sake: Evidence that reason can change minds.
